All of these styles of yoga focus on a dynamic connecting movement that creates continuity between the more static hatha yoga postures. Ashtanga is the traditional Indian system that gave birth to the others. Vinyasa translates roughly as linking - both movement with breath, and the postures with each other. Less traditional offspring of these styles are often referred to simply as Flow Yoga. Practitioners feel the fluidity, strength, and lightness created by this practice spill over into other aspects of their lives. Our short-form version of the Primary Series will make great use of breath and concentration to help calm the mind as you strengthen the physical body.
