Root Down, Find your Foundation, Deepen your Om

This month our focus in on laterals/sidebody. This involves a lot of strengthening and balance. In order to achieve this strength and balance, we must first establish our foundation and feel rooted. 

The idea of being grounded can be experienced both physically and emotionally. Getting our feet (or whatever body part we are using as our foundation) appropriately placed and distributing our weight to those locations will help us feel safe and secure and ready to engage our core to create balance. If something is out of alignment, we will feel unstable and our balance may be interrupted.

Feeling emotionally stable is key to feeling balance in our lives. 

Finding where you are comfortable can be the foundation of balance and success. This can many times be achieved by exploring your true self and finding activities that you genuinely enjoy doing. 

The concept of self-study in yoga is called Svadyhaya. It is one of the Niyamas from Patajalis 8 limb path! Using meditation to gather your thoughts and get to know yourself and your feelings is Svadyhaya. Take some time this month to experience your thoughts and feelings and let your authentic self shine!
